The climate of New Zealand is dominated by mainly two geographical features, the sea and the mountains. The country has moderately high rainfall but also many hours of sunshine. In general New Zealand has a temperate climate. The North has a subtropical weather during summer, in inland in the alpine areas it can be very cold till minus ten in winter. A big part of the country lies near the coast which means mild temperature. The coldest month of the year is in July and warmest is January and February. The weather can change very quickly in one day.
